Rancho Steering Stabilizer--what part #???

Got my shocks from Summit today, and a new steering stabilizer (Rancho RS5000). They sent me Part # RS5413, which is what comes up on several searches for different vendors for my 05 Ex 4x4, using the OEM brackets.

Problem is, this stabilizer gives me a stud on one end, and an eye on the other. My brackets are set up for 2 eyes. Full extension is 23" eye-to-eye, full compression is 15".

A search showed several references to the 5410, but the guy at Summit said that part # has a stud on one end also.

Anybody know what P/N I need for the OEM Brackets? Dude at Summit couldn't find one that worked???

Do I have an odd-ball?

Yes, it is RS5412. See O'Reilly Auto parts - Item Detail | O'Reilly Auto Parts $56 from them.

For those running the 5412--did you have to relocate the bracket on the steering arm?

My stock stabilizer had an extended length of 23", and I just measured the mounting brackets--I need 22.5" of travel or I'll restrict my turning radius (which I definitely don't need to cut down on!). I might be able to move the bracket an inch or two, but the specs above show 20.3" full extension.

Just curious what others have done?

It was awhile ago (2006) I do not think I moved anything. Just followed the instructions. I thing Rancho makes a dual but do not know what the number is.

I just put mine on about a month or two ago and it bolted right on didn't have to move anything. On the highway it felt like a new truck after my old leaky one came off!

I just looked at my summit racing order history and I got a RS5410.

I just searched the whole website and no one has ever mentioned the RS5412 part number *ANYWHERE* on this website before other than this thread. Quite a few refferences to the part # I have though which is RS5410. The RS5410 surely has eyes on both end's, tell summit to double check, or call back and have someone else look. The part # was stamped into my shock and matched the box.

Can you guys double check your refference to 5412 please?

Shockwarehouse also lists the 5410 and shows all teh trucks it fits as well. Lists 2000-2003 excursion only though???
http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/p...ing-Stabilizer

They list a RS5413 for the 04-05 excursion which is a stud on one end. Seems they think the suspension changed whne it carried over on the excursions. You need a RS5410 thats the one with 2 eyes trust me.

Strange - I use Napa Prolink at my shop to get the part number and was actually just getting ready to order my stabilizer. I just checked the Rancho catalog and it has the following:

Year Model Type Kit Shock Bracket
FORD — Excursion 4 W.D.
2005-04 4WD Excursion w/ O.E. Steering Stabilizer (Bolts to O.E. Mounts) SINGLE — RS5413 —
2004-02 4WD Excursion - high performance stabilizer SINGLE — RS5406 RS5542
2003-00 4WD Excursion w/ O.E. Steering Stabilizer (Bolts to O.E. Mounts) SINGLE — RS5410 —
FORD — Excursion 2 W.D.
2002-00 2WD Excursion w/ O.E. Steering Stabilizer (Bolts to O.E. Mounts) SINGLE — RS5410 —

So instead of 5412 their catalog shows 5413 or 5410. I'm going to send them an email and I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Not sure what the issues is, but I installed a 5412 just this past summer and it was a direct bolt on. They do give you a new stud for the passenger side end and you have to remove the OE one from its bracket. I think it took me 15 min. to do the whole thing.

***Edit***

I just took a look at the .pdf link from above. I can't explain why 5412 isn't listed for the Ex. It is, however listed for Dodge 1 ton form 2000 - 2008. This should be a Dana 60 axle too. If someone contacts Rancho tech support please post their explanation.

Just got off the phone with Rancho Tech Support, the correct part number is RS5410.

He said that the "valving" was different for each application.

Therefore, those of us that have the Dodge Part number RS5412 have the wrong part and should replace it.

Nice to know I have been driving around with the wrong part since 12/06. Guess I'll take care of it today.

Just crawled under mine, at least it was in the garage, the part number stamped on the stabilizer is RS5412.

If you go to the link rlh68050 sent it shows that the application for this part number is for Dodge's but at the end of the list it shows Excursion applications too.

Off I go to call Rancho again.

Just finished speaking with Jeff at Rancho Tech Support, asked him about O'Reilly Auto Parts reference, he said that it was incorrect.
the correct part is the RS5410.

Now all I need to do is get the correct part and install it.

Thanks for calling them and posting their response. I e-mailed them late last night, but haven't received a reply yet. I think I'm going to wait to see what they respond with, especially since their own chart tdappleman linked above shows the 5413 is the app for 04-05. I can definitely tell you that a 5413 won't work on my 2005.
