So, 2 years of searching paid off. I'm now the owner of a 1979 Ford f150 custom 4x4. Originally had a 351 but the previous owner swapped a 302. Virtually no rust for a 33 year old truck. Needs a new battery, the fuel gauge doesnt work, and a bit of a wiring hackjob. But it runs and it drives, for 4 bils I cant complain. I've wanted one of these since I was a little boy, I'm pretty excited to finally have one.
Whatcha think? Going to take off the cap for the summer, put a rollbar in the box with some lights, and run a bit of a lift. From there Im not really sure what I'll do to it..
Thanks for the compliments guys!
I'll probably end up asking some dumb questions at first, I'm used to my old '89 Mazda truck. Going from a little 2.2L 4-banger to this is a bit of a change.
What mods are best for optimizing my fuel mileage? Im aware that with a truck like this I wont be getting MPGs good enough to write home about, but every little bit helps right?
