Another 6.0 Trans Cooler Question...

I'm trying to upgrade my X's trans cooler to the 6.0L trans cooler. (My X is a 2000 Ltd V10).

Can someone advise me on the following:

> I've sent several messages and tried calling one of the highly recommended vendors on this site -- but have gotten no response. I've taken to searching the internet for a "turn-key" upgrade kit, but can't seem to find a good deal. Can anybody give me a tip on where to get a kit at a great price?

> I've read that if I upgrade the trans cooler, I ought to upgrade the trans pan, too, to allow the trans to work using more trans oil. I've found a supplier with a pan that increases the oil by 3.5 L or so... and the pan allows the installation of a trans temp sensor, too (which I think is a great idea). Do you guys/gals agree that a pan upgrade is a meaningful and effective thing to do? Or am I "gilding the lilly?"

Thanks.

Bigger pan not needed. Spend your money on something like the ScanGauge II that will monitor the trans temp through the OBD port.

X2 on saving your money on the new pan , it does nothing. You could call tousley ford which is one of the forum sponsors and get a price on the cooler. Also if you do a search on the forum there are lots of writeups on installing the new cooler. I used the factory lines from a 2004 superduty and modifyed them to work on my truck. I also installed a magnafine filter after my cooler because my cooler was used. I have some pictures of my install on the forum. If you cant find them let me know I will try to find them for you.
