And if you have tried it, does it work? AAlso wondering how it would work with our thermostat controlled system. Found installation manual it only references the 4r100, and 5r110 Ford Transmissions.
My 2011,15, and current 17 Super Duty's all came with a trans cooler. Nothing auxiliary needed, my 6.7 ran 190s normal ops, around 210-215 towing flat, all the way up to 240s pulling hills. Completely normal.
I considered putting one on but tried an aftermarket extra capacity transmission pan first. I was consistently peaking between 238 and 245 degrees pulling my toy hauler up the mountain grades here in Colorado, There were a lot of naysayers on this site that said it would NOT give me cooler temperatures but after installing the pan with the eight extra quarts of fluid, I now usually peak at 228 with the highest temperature being 230.
If you are interested in getting one, don’t get the Mag Hytec pan, It will only gives you about a 1/4 inch clearance from the new thicker cross member that’s on the 17 plus models. I purchased the ATS pan and it leaves plenty of room and holds more fluid than the Mag Hytec too.
