3rd Row Buckets?

Has anyone ever mounted bucket seats in the 3rd row? I use my Ex for pulling a trailer and long trips and as my kids get bigger, that last row just won't be comfortable enough. Anyone ever seen this done?

I think it could be done, if you welded some channel to the factory rear seat mounts, then mounted some bucket seats in the rear... the thing is, your rear vision would suck, though with a trailer I guess that wouldn't matter. do you think the bench is uncomfortable? I love the bench.... its my favorite seat in my truck, and I have 2nd row captains chairs. I love to sit back and watch movies back there when I'm waiting on someone or when me and the missus are having a row. lol

One "halfway" step might be to install rear seat headrests, I have seen a couple other members that have done this mod.

What buckets would you use? Ideally you would want something lower to the ground, since the third row is stepped up already so head room will be reduced. If you could get your hands on some factory 2nd row buckets you could basically cut the whole flip bracket off the bottom since it won't be needed, and that would lop off probably just the right amount of height to compensate for the step.

Very interesting Idea. I think tomorrow I will do some googling. For some reason I think I remember a post here in regard to an up armored X that was a Sheiks or Embassy vehicle that had the 2nd row removed and a killer set of reclining buckets in the very back. I need all the seats I can get right now, but I think a triple row of captains would be pretty slick. Hope someone tries it.

Ford did the "Limo" version with twin captian 3rd rows. The same captian seats for the second row but placed side by side without any gap and stuck em in the 3rd row inplace of the bench.

EDIT: did some googling and I may be mistaken. Maybe the one I seen was done by a limo company. Whatever it was they replaced the 3rd row bench for the 2 of the small captian seats you would normally see for the second row. However it did look factory and I've seen in the pass quite a few of the "limo" verion X's on eBay. They were all regular size Excursions (not stretched) but noted as "limo" and when you open the back doors the back seats would face each other.

yeah I saw several of those limo ones with 2 rows of buckets facing each other, with a hole in the middle you could insert a small RV type table into, when I was looking for trucks last year.

Yeah I would like some King Ranch seats in front, my front buckets in 2nd row, and the factory 2nd row buckets in the 3rd row. My dog wouldnt like it though because she either lays across the bench in the 2nd row or roams around the rear since I leave the third row in the garage!
