Just purchased a 76 F250 CS/ super cab. Getting ready to install a flatbed and gooseneck hitch. I also want to make it a dump bed. Has any body done a truck with both installations. If so, could I see a few pics? The issue I forsee is the lift being in the same place as the hitch placement. Is there other ways of placing the lift or different type of lift other than scisor?
The goosneck hitch does mount to the frame, but so does the lift mechanism. In most of the pics I've seen, the lift is mounted in the same area. Just wondering if anybody has mounted both, and how they did it.
Hi!
The PO had installed a gooseneck hitch and a dump bed on my F250 standard cab. The dump bed/hydraulics didn't come with the truck but I managed to take a picture of the frame before I put on my flatbed. You can see the hitch and the pivot for the cylinder in the picture. He had the reservoir and motor/pump mounted on the frame behind the driver. Is that what you needed to see? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I just bought one a couple months ago with a scissor type lift. The mount for the lower portion is a round pipe with brackets welded on. It also serves as the oil reservoir. The upper bracket is welded to the dump bed frame. It has a PTO driven pump. I will try to get a few pictures for you as soon as I can.
Also you can rig it up with just a straight cylinder for lifting and use a 12V electric power unit to provide the hydraulic pressure just like the set up used on dump trailers.
If you used two cylinders you could mount your goosenesk ball to the frame and just cut a hole in the dump bed for it to come through. I would consider using some kind of fold-down or turn over type so that the ball ain't stickin' up in the bed all the time.
