Well after 3 months of problems, 4k, getting the truck back after 1.5 wks. Yesterday I got less then a mile from home and the tranny took a dump AGAIN!!! So I limped it in to ford. And traded it for a brand new 2012 truck. Unfortunately this means I am leaving the diesel forums for now. I bought an Eco boost F150. Hard to believe that a V6 is going to tow my boat now. Even more surprising is it does it better and less fuel then my 7.3l. My truck was awesome for 10 years. But I lost trust in my machine and had to let her go. I do want to thank all the friends I made on this forum over the years. Great guys, great info and lots of fun. Thank all of you for help, ideas, thoughts and friendships
Will do. Yes I hated to see it go too. But when do you draw the line in the sand and stop the bleeding? I can budget a payment. Cannot budget real well for thousands spent every couple months and for lost time and sleep over a a truck I have lost trust in. I certainly will drop in and give you my input on the new eco boost
Don't be a stranger. Your input and comments are always welcome on this forum. You may have given up on one "old friend", but we are still here for you.
It's an electrical issue with the tranny. That what they narrowed it down too. But they don't know if it's the wiring to the tranny, PCM, Truck wiring harness,
Blah blah blah.... The suggested fix leaves me without a truck for almost two weeks, and will cost me over half what the gave me on a trade in, and it is still not a garaunteed fix. So not being reliable, not a guaranteed fix, cost of a rental car, worries of long road trips towing comi g up and unsure of my machine etc.... All played in to it. Do I want a payment? Heck no. But at least my headaches are over. Plus I am only a couple years early on buying a brand new truck anyway. The amount I got onmy trade was more then I could have sold it for and that was broken too. Was not an easy decision. But once I pulled the trigger.... I have been much happier. Lol ask my wife
