Why would you possibly want to go that fast in 4wd? That's plain stupid!

Avoiding the issue of whether it's safe or smart to do so, you can go faster than 55 in 4-Hi. I've gone much faster when I was younger...

AWD does tend to get worse gas mileage than a part time system. If you're in sloppy conditions just use 4Hi. If you're in try conditions and you want AWD for better handling you need to sell your truck and buy a car...

hey 88 yes a 4r70w will bolt up as long as its for a small block ford pattern, however it wont handle that dually , i was going to ask what truck you had this planned for ,,,,,

without getting too techie , you really need a e4od , its built to handle loads and weight, basicly a c6 with od

i ran at 55 for 2 hours down the GSP in a snow storm because of an emergency (dad died twice that night) when i was 20 yrs younger. Do exploders need awd, NO. Do i, NO. Do i want to try an build something no one else has, YES. And the gas mileage in a cc dually is gonna sukk no mater what. Its gonna be a 4wd conversion, so why not try an build it awd ? Can the NP203 be taken out of 4wd ?

the 203 case has nothing to do with lack of speed !
you can do 100 mph with it if you have the horse power !sound like there might be other problems ?

jk, i've been lookin at aod, e4 an 4r's, anyone of them can be built to handle 600+ lb ft, but will a 4r built be able to handle weight ? To go awd, i need the 4r an t-case from an exploder. If it can work. Thats why i started this thread, to see if i can make this happen

by 4R i take it a 4R100 ! the 4R100 & E4OD can handle the weight and power !
if the explorer's transfer case can bolt to the 4R100 then it should work , i dont know what kind of power the transfer case from the explorer can handle so you might want to check into that !

I've done 70-75mph before in 4hi in my Bronco and close to that in my 86 F150. Ignore the sticker - it's probably from some lawyer...

Now whether it's safe to go that fast in conditions where you need 4wd... We'll ignore that because I'm sure it's been beaten to death before...

As long as you don't do it on dry pavement, shouldn't be a problem.

But then, why would you need 4x4? I'm sure you won't do that speed in horrible conditions.
