Hey guys I'm thinking of doing a dash swap on my 99 super duty to the 2008 super duty dash, steering wheel, etc. i know the od in my truck is mechanical and in the new one its electronical is it possible to swap without having to redue the whole electrical system and computer? Is the steering wheel going to line up and the ducting? How should i approach the wireing? if anyone knows anything about doing this or has done it before please let me know
I don't have much hands-on experience under the dash of a Super Duty, but I have done plenty of this kind of stuff in the past. I'm not the type to give the advice of "don't do it, just buy one with the dash you want." However, if you aren't real comfortable with wiring and bracket modification, I'd think twice about it.
Just a quick look at some wiring diagrams tells me you will be modifying the wiring to get stuff to work right. Then you have to find out if gauges in the dash will work with sensors on the engine. Then the computer... ugh!
Before you can even worry about any of that, you have to MOUNT the dash. Just because the cab is pretty much the same means nothing. I put a late mid 90's Mustang dash into an 85 Mustang- even though the body shell is pretty much the same, almost none of the mounting points lined up- I had to make them all. Same thing happened when I put a 96 Chevy pickup dash into a 92 (again, same basic body). And both required modifying the wiring to get everything to work.
It CAN be done, but it's not something you'll want to start on one day then expect to drive it to work the next. It is very involved. Personally, I'd rather change an engine than ever do a dash swap again.
Dash mounting into your truck of 2008 will not work with out heave modifications. Fire wall is completely different. Which means heater box is completely different. Here is what I did. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-08-10-ex.html
Thanks for all of the replies. So basically from what I can find out about its pretty much impossible for a 17 year old to do. Though, I'm still wanting to try. Or if anyone knows is it possible to just swap the steering wheel?
Well all I want to say is... some one has put a modern interior, dash included into a 1978 cab... so it's definately possible.... If you want to do it, get in there and figure it out, be a pioneer, do a great write up on it... All these great fabricators, Like Jesse James, Indiean Larry, Chip Foose and others that slip my mind at the moment, werent born fabricating, they were just like you, starting with a dream. The difference, courage to act. It will not be easy, if you need that truck daily to drive, it will be neer impossible, but as to the question... Yes it can be done!
i say go for it im very tempted to do it and im 100% going to do it just gonna try to find a junk yard with the interior that i want so i dnt pay an arm and a leg for it

I was talking to the guys at McNasty Customz, and they are releasing a complete kit in the next month or 2. Hope this helps
Did he mention everything that comes in the kit and how much?
I was just talking to him on instagram but would prolly include all the mounting brackets and instruction. He said around $200 or a kit about in about 2-4 weeks. IMO this should have been done a long time ago lol.
I'm interested in this kit now lol might solve a few of m issues, this is 2-4 weeks from now? I may hold off on touching my dash for a little bit then.

Yea, I'm looking a at 2000 F250 V10 ex-cab, SB for sale. I think it would get a good candidate for the swap, this truck would be my DD. Can I get your opinion on something? This truck has a leak in the passenger exhaust manifold, should I buy the truck and fix it? Is it a easier kinda repair. The truck is listed for $1,800.

Thanks for the reply Ford_1999, what I was hoping for is making my 2000 gages to look factory in the new dash and also a custom spline from a 2000 steering wheel in a 08 steering wheel plate.
I really just want the dash in mine. I dont need the updated electronics or the climate control. I would like to use my existing gauges (modified to fit the new dash), and keep my heater box. Im curious to see this kit that you spoke of.
