Thumbs up 2010 V10 SD nav and camera

Hi all,

Well...I'm in the market for a gently used 2010 F250 or F350 SRW V10 Lariat CC 4x4. With as many OEM bells and whistles I can get!

So...I am finding a few trucks...but they do not have the Navigation head unit or the backup camera.

Questions:
Is it possible to install a factory OEM Nav head unit? If yes...what is involved?

Is it possible to install a factory OEM backup camera setup? Are all SD pre-wired already? Maybe just install a new tailgate handle with camera...and off to the races???

Any...and all info is TRULY appreciated!

I can't answer your questions, but I do have both. Of the two, I think the camera is invaluable, but the Nav is just average. The large screen for the camera is sweet, but i'm sure i'd be fine with the screen in the rear-view mirror.

I just went trough the same thing. If your truck does not have it from factory then getting a factory unit installed is tricky and expensive.

You can get the same, and more, functionality from an aftermarket unit. A pioneer unit can be setup with DVD video, Nav,bluetooth, Stereo, Satellite radio, and backup camera.

A good local installer can give you more specific details. A really good head unit with 7" screen and Garmin based nav will cost below $1000.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah...don't mind the aftermarket at all! Some really cool stuff...

I had a Kenwood all picked out with all the features...and an adapter to keep the Ford Sync function. Price was high...but not worried so much on price. I think it was in the $1700 range...

My main issue...is getting a FORD OEM Nav head unit and if it is Plug and play??? Or...does the PCM need to be programmed?

You can get the Ford Sat/Nav systems for around $750 refurbished. Check Ebay. This guy here:

Has helped me put factory Ford equipment into my Ford. They have the harnesses, etc that you'd need, worked perfectly when I wanted to add a Ford head unit and nav to my truck. I imagine the refurbishers could also help you.
