This is my '65 F350 build up thread. Bought the truck Feb 10, 2012. 85,000 miles. Engine had a rebuild tag on it, will have to try and track the company down and see when it was done. Have it stripped down, to a rolling chasis. Engine painted. Hope to have frame painted in next couple days. Not going for perfect, but a pretty decent driver. Something to have fun with. Came w/ 36" Humvee tires and custom wheels the previous buyer had made to replace the split rim tubed dually tires. Took 2,650 lbs off between the lift gate (1,150 lbs); flat bed w/ 2 layers of wood & diamond plate (1,200 lbs) stakesides (300 lbs). Took the flatbed and lift gate to the scrap yard today (a project in of itself).
So you reduced the 0-60 speed from 45 seconds to 25 seconds? I'm kidding, but the sad part is I'm not My truck is a f100 long bed with a 292 and the 0-60 speed is like 25 seconds, which isn't something i mention to people.
That looks like a fun project. I hope it turns out as nice as that engine is looking. it will look even better when you get the chassis painted
Rebuild tag on engine: The usual "AuthorIzed Ford Rebuilder" work performed: Block hot tanked, bored out. New pistons/rings/cam/rod/main bearings/gaskets/seals/core plugs.
Head hot tanked: Valves ground (replaced as necessary), new valve guides, rebuilt rocker shaft assy.
The tag says "Hesco Parts Corporation" Louisville, KY, authorized ford remanufactured" and has an engine number 29841. Bore Os is blank, Main Brg is blank & Rod Brg is blank. I googled the company and it just comes up with a black screen that just says please call 1-800-458-9087. Odd. Guess I'll call them later today, maybe I lucked out and it's actually a 300 instead of a 240.

And, since there's no O/S listed for the bore/main/rod bearings, it may have been a new 300 short block w/a rebuilt cylinder head.
Every so often, Ford sold authorized rebuilders 10's of 1000's of new short blocks at bargain basement prices because they had a massive overstock.
centerline of axle was five feet from the cab compared to 4' on a 100/250. Extended wheel well & cut wheel opening larger, matched lines from front fender.
I used a 2x4 on each frame rail to raise the bed the right height but I think the back of the bed is too high and I need to chop the 2x4 before the mount at the rear and shim it less. Thoughts?
