Need to check with a gauge. Not sure if the dash one will show just where it stands.

Like a Scanguage II, Edge Ct, or torque app. Something along those lines.

If you do have something to check temps with, it should reach 188*- 190*f. After a long drive.

The gauge is *fWT on the Scangauge II. Scroll through your gauges until you get to it. It is very accurate. *fWT is the Same as ECT for future reference.

192 to 204 is more realistic for a properly functioning t-stat after a 15 to 20 mile highway drive..

I rarely see 192* this time of year. 45* and running empty at 60, I'll run 190* then 188* when I lift my foot.

Now, later this year, I will see 192*-194*. But that is at 70*+

And this summer towing? I will see 218* with the trailer on and cruising up the pass.

I'd say your t-stat is a little on the sluggish side.

Riffraff Diesel: Ford OEM Oil Cooler

Tousley Ford just barely beats Clay by $10. Both are good to deal with.

Don't know if either come with gaskets

Not bad. How many miles highway? It takes 15 to 20 miles highway to totally saturate the system. It's a hair on the cool side but not bad. People sweat too much over 2 to 4 degrees. Your delta looks real good if the system was heat saturated. Remember, a diesel has no spark plugs so the higher the temp. in the proper range the more efficient it will run. It relies on temp. and compression to ignite the fuel.

Only about 8 miles, but ECT was already at 160 degrees when I got on the highway. And yeah, I'm really surprised at how good of shape my oil cooler is in, considering its got 71k on it and used Ford gold coolant all its life.

Doesn't sound like the system was totally saturated to me.
