So I bought a used cat back exhaust from a fellow Focus owner from Texas and I was hoping to install it today. It has two flanged connections, but it didn't come with gaskets. I don't know if it had any to begin with, Do you think it needs them? I was going to get some gasket material and make some, but nobody seemed to have any that would survive exhaust temps. I did find some liquid sealer stuff that I think is to seal slip joints which it also has one of, so I got that. Maybe that is enough between the flanges?
If the flanges are flat there should be a gasket in there, if the flange is tapered then probly no gasket there,
maybe get the exhaust system on there today then if it needs a gasket pop one in there tomorrow..........
When i did my y pipe i bought a sheet of gasket material from napa, it was like 12"x24" i think for around $8. made my own and it seems to be working fine
Ya the flanges are flat so that's why I was thinking it needed something. When I went looking for gasket material it was after 6 and Napa was closed I'll try them today, the others didn't have anything. (other than cork or paper not stuff for exhausts)
Napa was closed?! The one here in M-town is open til 10 I believe.
The one on rte 3? Ya, that is a warehouse store and those stay open longer to supply the satellite stores. Most of the others aren't open much after 6 or so on the weekends and I think 8 during the week
haha That looks like Ray's shop the funny thing is when I was out and about I cruised by there but didn't see any activity and turned around and made my way to Lowe's for other supplies
