Steering Pump Clunk
Hey guys my father's 03 6.0 is having some steering issues. It's always been slightly loose, and the stealership tightened it up as much as they could awhile ago. Still pretty loose and has a clunk in it after a few turns and doesn't turn all the way. Is it possible to fix the existing pump or does it need to be replaced? A used one w/90,000 miles is almost $200.

A clunking sound is usually from something worn out in the steering/suspension, not the pump. You need to have the front end and steering box play checked. Usually the pump will have a whiring , grinding or sqealing sound.

Only $70 for a new steering pump? Way cheaper than I expected. He said he had the front end inspected, everything was fine except for the pump. I'm not too sure, but if I can get a pump for that cheap it'd be worth it being a pita
