so i bought a 2012 f150 and it has thin to no paint in spots like under the doors under the hood and some other places and the ford rep told my dealer that this is normal dose any one else have this problem
yep, that is "normal". You can go to any Ford lot and look at their new vehicles. You'll be hard pressed to not find paint issues like this. The Ford Paint Quality Assurance sucks big time and it seems to be getting worse IMO.
your bare spots need to be addressed. My 2006 F-150, 2008 Expy, 2009 Mustang all had missing spots where the paint was see-thru, or just not even there. Strangly, my 2003 Mustang, 2006 F-250, and 2012 Flex are/were paint perfect
also check your roof and any creases/ridges. My 08 Expy rusted out on the roof in <3yrs. Had 25,000 miles when I ditched it due to Ford failing to fix the paint under warranty.
Make them spray those areas with new paint to prevent future problems.
the rep told the dealer to go out to the lot and take pics of the same areas of 2 or 3 trucks and they also had thin paint so the rep said this is normal and that they wont do any thing i told the dealer that that is not the answer for me and he going to talk to the rep tomorrow and call me with what he said
If you watched that Ultimate Factories of the Dearborn plant on the History Channel, you would see why there might be issues. I'm not saying that it's acceptable; just that you can see how it might happen.
I'm sure Ford has a Quality Control Manual, ask the rep to show you where it says that certain body areas can be left unpainted. I'd bet a large sum of money that it says the opposite.

That's friggin' ridiculous. I guess its getting to the point you need a mechanic to inspect a new car purchase like a used car purchase.

No....my wifes 1997 Cougar had a thin spot on the inside of the door jamb and Ford dealer painted it...it looked great!
My 2011 F250 has incurred too may scratches and chips relative to my 08 F250, bothe new. The 08 none. The 2012 several. Tundra guys complain en mass about thier paint. I think it's an industry-wide cost-cutting measure. IE: cheapin-out.
I did a complete hand over hand inspection on mine after delivery and noticed a tiny spot on the end of the bed and hidden by the tailgate that was missing some black paint, but, it's well covered with the primer coat.
I'm going to keep a watch on it but I doubt that it will spread.
