Another video for symptoms

I've been going through my 87 f250 to get it perfect mechanically. So far I have replaced the mechanical lift pump, and fixed fuel leaks. The truck starts right up, and has great throttle response but when ever you give it throttle it shoots out a white-blue smoke. It's not coolant as far as I can tell, it smells more like oil.

I am waiting on o-rings for the injectors so that might take care of it.

Also the crankcase oil smells like diesel.

What could this be? Bad injection pump seals? Valve guide/stem seals?

Any common things to check?

Also, this truck was last licensed in 2008, so I am assuming it has sat since then or longer. Does 4 year old diesel cause anything?

Here is a video of what it's doing.

Wow, you werent kidding on having good throttle response. I would blame the smoke on the 4 year old diesel, if that tank hasnt been replaced, and a new tank of fuel been run through it, if you have run new diesel through it then i couldnt be sure what to tell you on why its blowing bluish smoke like that, usually thats a symptom of coolant. Have you checked your coolant level?

Btw i dont mean replace the tank... i mean run new diesel through it.

Oil smells like diesel, sounds like you have one or more injectors "pissing" instead of misting. The puffs of smoke is probably unburned fuel, and it is leaking passed the rings and into the crankcase a bit...

So as an update, everytime I write a new thread about a certain problem, I go out to and find the problem 5 minutes later.

So I pulled the filter off, and it's definitely got old diesel in there, like at least 5 years old. I filled the filter with some new atf just cause that's what I had around, and the smoke is gone. Ran it until it started smoking again, pulled the filter and it's got the old diesel in there again, which for whatever reason smells more like old gasoline than diesel.

So, I'm going to forgo eating for a while, and fill it up at 4.45 a gallon.

the oil smelling like diesel=DON"T DRIVE the truck until you change the oil. it could be the injectors but it was most likely due to the mechanical lift pump leaking fuel into the crank case.

My thoughts too, I am waiting on the o-rings for the injectors before I change the oil, then i'll get it all copacetic.

I appreciate everyone's input and helpfulness!

the o-rings for the injectors won't do anything for fuel leaking into engine. those o-rings are for the return line caps that are NOTORIOUS for leaking on these engines.

i would take the injectors out and have them pop tested. my truck would lay down a HUGE smoke screen of blue/white when it had four bad injectors.

Fuel into oil could be leaky injectors as said above, bad fuel pump diaphragm, but you say you replaced it, and could be bad seals in the injector pump.

Either way, DO NOT drive the truck with fuel in the oil, it will thin out the oil so much, you can ruin your engine! Even cause a run-away!

I'm doing the o-rings because they are starting to leak a slight bit on a couple. I'll probably pull the injectors at the same time and have them pop tested.

The injectors should all pop around 1800psi.
