Ecoboost - Is this Normal?

I have had my Ecoboost since Saturday, less than a week, and I have a question. When pulling away from a dead stop there seems to be a lag in throttle response and almost feels like the rear wheels skip a bit. Is that just the way its supposed to be?

There is a re-flash of the computer available for trucks built prior to 2/7/12. I don't know, but that might help the problem.

Eddie, do you have any more information about that? Is there a TSB?

Turbos will typically have a lag depending on how quick you are on the throttle.

I don't notice any skip feeling with my 2012 Ecoboost...the only real lag I get is if the transmission is downshifting.

My 2011 doesn't have any noticeable turbo lag, unless you really hit the gas hard and even then it's minimal.

Well, no, I don't think I have noticed exactly what you are describing, but I am not sure with many things here.
You know, this is the first vehicle I own with an automatic transmission, and I am still in the process of getting used to it. Everything kind of seems to have a delayed response when comparing to a stick shift, LOL.
I was just wondering about this TSB, it's always good to have the information.

I am wondering of what I;m feeling is just the nature of the transmission. I'm REALLY easy on the throttle in town to the point I might be too easy. Letting off the brake and enough throttle to get moving.

I noticed almost the exact thing in my wife's new Highlander. So it may be how I am driving in town

OK, I think it might be the traction control. I turned it off tonight and there is a difference. I don't think it knows what to do on our rough multi surface streets here in town.

Hey, thanks cgartly for posting that.
Now I am wondering if it would be worth it to have that TSB done even if I don't really experience any symptoms? What are others who own the EB do? Yes/No?

Check the build date on your truck, if it's after 2/7, you already have the TSB incorporated from the factory. Another thing to consider is the "drive by wire". There is a very slight throttle response delay on the drive by wire trucks. It's not a lot, but I have noticed a difference between my '11 and my 'ol '97 that had a cable.

There's also a built in lag in the drive by wire system. In my mustang the 1st thing I do getting in the car is turn off the traction control. I can't recommend this for everyone
