i didnt think it was so bad about 4 hrs by myself with a floor jack and a board , no lift , and air tools . 4x4 gave me some room and mine was full i had to suck it out first . i think its way better than pulling the bed and rear bumper. but ive pulled many gas tanks over the years . hardest thing was the ring and it wasnt to bad.also wallow out the fill neck while you got it apart than you can fill up with the big boys
One person can drop a tank a lot easier than one person can pull the bed.
I would imagine that would depend on what kind of equipment we had at our disposal. (Everyone should have a skid loader) sure make alot of tasks way easier.
You can do what another membe rdid, which was, i'd say 2-3 weeks ago, with pics, and that is, use telephone pole cables goin across house to house.....(from the look of the pic), but he used a big-ol tree brach, and winched it up some, then drove /pushed truck away.
I did this job entirely by myself. To remove the bed took only about 20 minutes on Sunday. To remove the bolts took me all afternoon on Saturday. Broke 6 torx bits, and had to cut one bolt so as not to break my last bit. I lifted the bed with a chain hoist over the tree limb, which is coming straight at you in the picture, i used two ratchet straps and criss crossed into an X pattern in the bed using the tie down mounts in bottom of corners, suck up the straps till taught, not tight, and then place the hook of the hoist where the straps intersected. Had to remove the tailgate to get it to balance, and once tailgate is removed it is perfectly balanced as you can see in photo. I have since replaced with new bolts from tously ford, ran bolts in and out multiple times with cordless impact and applied a liberal amount of never seize. Hopefully next time it wont be so difficult. I did it this time to perform the in tank mods and to install a b&w goose neck hitch. I will not be dropping the tank if dont have to, with free bolts, its too easy to pull the bed.
