HPOP removal q's?

Well, it looks like I will be swapping the HPOP on my 97 tomorrow, it'll be my first time to pull an HPOP, but I've heard its not that difficult. But anyway, I saw there is a "special" tool sold on riffraff to disconnect the lines, but however it states its for 99-03's. Do the OBS use a different line connections, or am I going to need to build one of those disconnect tools.

Thanks and if you got any good pointers or advice, I'm all ears.

You don't need the tool. SD's use quick connects where as the OBS uses screw on fittings.

It's not a hard job. Just go slow and think about what you're doing and you'll be fine.

Not a difficult job at all... Me and a buddy did his for the first time with a haynes manual picture and a couple beers... Just like said above, think about what your doing. No special tools required.

11/16 open end tool, two of them for the HP lines. When you put the bolts back in to hold the HPOP on the cover use anti-seize on the threads and start them by hand very carefully. Don't over torque them!! I use a miti vac to suck the oil out of the resovior and take the resorivor off so I can see the bolt that holds the gear on. Some leave it on and go blind.

Got her done today, everything went smoothe except for takin the bolt out of the gear. I spent ten min slowly turning the bolt with ally might thinkin it should get easier any second, then I realized I was moving the whole truck, so I put her in fifth gear and the bolt finally broke loose.

Thanks again guys, yall rock.
