If these head studs & FICM are a known issue on the 6.0L why hasn't there been some type of recall on this? i read these threads almost every day. It seems like everyone has a FICM issue and head studs run a close second. its crazy !!!
i haven't had either issue yet but for crying out loud i know what to do if i do. just from reading here. venting for all those with these problems i guess.
lol ya dont forget my favorite, wrong oil cap LOL, learned that one the hard way! but really its been a good truck and has alot more life left in her but shes trying to buck me and its not going to happen! but ya if it doesnt feel the burn its just not worth it! lol J/K but comparred to some i feel blessed with my minor problems so far, besides the turbo im replacing atm its not been bad.
Don't forget the oil cooler that acts like a filter with the particulates/casting sand or the original fuel pressure regulator spring that looses pressure over time causing the pressure to drop below a safe pressure for the injectors. But just like the 7.3L (search the number of 6637 mods) the short comings have been addressed and taken care of.
I have a 06 6.0L and 01 7.3L diesel. the 01 has 276000 miles and running like a top. i hope this 06 does me half that good..
Keep up with the PM and it shouldn't have any issues. You want to talk to someone with allot of miles on a 6.0L? Run6.0run has something like 475k miles on his...and still counting the miles. I remember he made the comment last summer that he changes the oil every couple of weeks, that's how fast he's getting to 5k miles.
Any way i can tell if the stc fitting has been updated? without removing the turbo. i just did the EGR delete two weeks ago. all the bolts should come right off for this update anyways.
