Starter solenoid.

I'm working on a 1998 Ranger with the 2.5 liter. Originally thought the starter went bad but got it tested and it tested good. You can hear the gears in the starter engage but it won turn the the truck over. Was told to check the starter solenoid or relay. My Haynes repair manual says it's located between the fuse box and the battery but can't find it on this Ranger. Would like to know where it's located and how to find out whether it's bad or not. Any help is appreciated.

#6 inside the underhood fuse box, you might also have high resistance in the batt cables, corroded grounds, battery terminals, or you may just have a bad battery.
