Why in the world were cars still on the track under a Yellow while the drier was out? Nobody would have expected that the car would break, but the first rule of safety is that you never know what to expect. They would rather count laps than assure safety?

why not? they change the rules mid-race.
that is the main reason i don't watch it any more. they make so many rule changes it is no longer racing.
the straw that broke the camels back was the assinine rule that there must be a yellow with less than 20 laps to make the end of the race more competitive.
Sorry folks, this one was all JPM's fault!! He had been complaining of a bad vibration, and went to the pits to get it checked out. They didn't find anything, sent him back out for a lap so he wouldn't get lapped. Now how smart is it to drive as fast as you can when you know something is wrong with the car?? I have seen this a bunch of times on the dirt tracks(minus the fireball and jet dryer, they just go flying into the corner, and right off the other end of the track when they find out what they suspected, yep, something's broke!! once you realize they didn't get hurt,it makes for a good laugh.) NASCAR has always had the jet dryers out at certain tracks to clean debris under caution, this isn't something new. here is the video for those that didn't see it.
OK now you are going to....... need to... get used to this three times a year...they start to negotiate with Fox in one year and they will want three Monday night races

IRL won't run in rain here at the Iowa Speedway either. After riding along in a stock car there, I understand why as well. We may have been on dry asphalt, but it sure felt like it was a dirt track...
