Help me understand this wiring schematic

Do you have the relay? As it it shown as an option. You could switch either the positive+ or ground - to make the relay activate as long as the opposite you are switching is connected.
If you are trying to take the starter relay out of the equation, just switch one of the existing wires in series.
If you are trying to take the starter relay out of the equation, just switch one of the existing wires in series.
