I installed a backup camera over the weekend. I wanted a clean install that would allow me to see the hitch when hooking up to my TT. From in the inside, I can see the barn doors across the top of the screen but it's still a very clean image.
I like that idea.. Thought about putting a backup camera on for the wife just because of the lift and you cant see small cars behind us. Maybe I will rethink on my postioning for it but I dont know how i can get it to work with an 8" Drop hitch.

If you are using that big of a drop hitch...maybe also get one of those magnetic tool pickups. Put it on the center of the ball, then when you back up, line up the hitch on that tool (left to right)...once the tool "falls over" you are under the trailer.

Yeah I put alot of thought into the hitch. I used to pull the boat with a 08 F150 super crew and what I Did was measure the hitch from the ground up. Then did the X. What I came up with was about 7". As I am only pulling a boat then I went down hooked the boat up the the f150 and see how much settle there was and measured that wasn't much. So then I took into account leaf springs. As the F150 has 3 leafs in each rear spring and my X has 8 leafs I figured that 1in that it dropped on the F150 would turn out to be maybe 1/2" on the X. So I was looking at 7.5" of drop. So the closest thing I could find was 8" of drop. I havnt made it over to hook the boat up to the X yet but will do so soon.. I let ya know what I discover.
A few years ago, VA Sheriff got as many from Sam's Club as he could and shipped them out to us that wanted them because Sam's did a huge price drop to move the product. Most of us paid around $25 bucks for the units.
Saw lots of nice systems off that website.. Think if i put 3 camera's back there that it might help the wife from running over something..... probley not
