The differences in beds

I have a 1977 F100 2wd full size pickup. The bed is in a bad way as it was used like a truck for most of its life. I have found a bed locally from a 1979 4wd pickup. Will this bed just bolt up or will I need to drill new holes for the bed bolts? I can't remember if the 4x4 frame is narrower in the back or not. Also it has the racetrack molding but my truck does not. I assume this is held on with pegs welded to the bed and some holes that I will be able to fill and take care of. Any other differences in appearance for this style of bed? Thank you for the help.

Bed should bolt right up without drilling new holes. The 79 bed will have fuel doors (1 or 2) in which yours right now may or may not have. Other than the trim styling, that's the only other real appearance thing. 73-77 F250 4x4s and super camper specials (I believe) had narrow frames.

Stylesides: Exposed fuel caps: 1973/76 / Fuel doors: 1977/79.

33 1/2" distance between the rear frame rails behind the cab:

1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys) / 1973/79 F350's on the 140" wheelbase:

1973/76 F350 Super Camper Special / 1973/79 F350 Regular Cab Trailer Special / 1977/79 F350 Regular Cab Camper Special.

Ford dropped "Super" after 1976.

The beds should bolt up with the exception of the fuel doors as mentioned.

The beds are held down with 8 Carriage bolts - four on each side (six if it's only a shortbed, I think). The nuts are on the inside of the frame rails. You can go all fancy and buy replacement bolts/nuts from LMC, or you could probably just get Stainless bolts/nuts from Home Depot/Lowes/Tractor Supply/Whatever.
