Do the new donut gaskets from Ford need to be torqued down again after a good heat up?

I'm having a hard to start issue with the truck now, and I'm getting white smoke. This evening I had the hood up and started the truck and smoke came rollin up from around the turbo. I got those clamps on the up pipes as tight as I could, but I'm gonna try to tighten them some this weekend. I hope they're not still leaking

Mabe I just got lucky with mine. Do you think you are having a glow plug problem is why it is hard to start?

Yeah, I think so. I've got new Motorcraft glow plugs and a new relay. I was waiting to get injector o-rings before I tear into it and do it all at once while I'm in there.

Is there even room to tighten them up more. A number of people, including myself have trouble with the ford donuts leaking. They are thin enough that the flange is pulled up tight against the turbo before it creates a good seal. I used small block chevy gaskets because they are a bit fatter and the bolts dont bottom out before the donuts compress to make the seal. Others have machined some off the flange to make some room for the donuts to squish and seal.

I still have maybe 1/16" before the clamp touches the collector.

So.. jumpin back in here again after a wonderful week in daytona florida..

I was wondering if you have to replace/change the upipes with a different turbo/pedestal setup?
I never even thought of that when it comes to a new turbo...

If anyone knows of turbos that work with our current uppipes thatd b nice to know...

I got the D66 from Beans, 30% more air flow and a direct bolt on. After that I don't know. Travis is a great source of info on turbo's.

Glenn, What its the difference in performance between both turbos with that 30% more air flow? Better response?. better boost psi?. Its expensive?

Yeah, quicker response, not that much more psi though and yes, it is expensive. I think it was a good upgrade though. My truck pulls harder with it.
