I bet it would, i never would of thought of that. I would be alot more comfortable knowing that i wasnt gonna have to tear it all apart in 6 months because of a broken weld.
I just butt welded mine with the mig, been a year so far and no problems. Be careful with the flex pipes. I bought some to do mine, from a recomendation on here, but they were too big in diameter. Maybe if the tranny was out where you could get to it, you could make them work. Just a thought.
Got my up pipes welded this evening. I cut 2 1/2" off the end and flipped it around and tig welded it back on. They fit nice and snug in the collector and the donut gasket slides right on. Here's some pics.
I hope they hold up!!

That makes me feel better hearing that. I didn't do the welding, I'm not that good with tig. My buddy that welded them for is a heck of a welder / fabricator. He's 56 years old and that's all he's ever done. I probably could have mig welded them myself, but I figured tig would be better and I need every bit of confidence in em I can get!
I dont blame you, would have tigged mine, but dont know how or anybody that does. I think a good mig weld will hold up just fine though, time will tell.

I'm sure it would. Yours has held this long, you must have done good job!
I saw these and thought they would be the ticket. Only thing I could see is making a new flange to bolt with a gasket to the collector. Seems like a cheap alternative to the $900 fix. By the way, your old ones look good and straight. http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...oducts_id=1642

That would be perfect! I thought about doing bellowed pipes on my F350 when I get to that point, but since you showed me those, I think I'll give those a try!! Heck of a lot cheaper and they look pretty good.

I keep looking at these and thinking the flange wouldn't be hard to fab, but what could you use for a gasket ? Maybe cut a piece off of a manifold gasket from something else with similar dimensions, or maybe you could order just the gaskets from whoever sells the bellowed pipes ? Either way, it wouldn't be hard at all to make those work!!
