Where does the tail pipe come out on your 97 F-150 4x4? Mine comes out in front of my rear passenger side tire. Staining my rim and rusting my lug nuts. Is that a factory defect or what? I bought my truck in 99 so Im not sure if its original exhaust.
Ive seen others with your same dillema. It is original. I dont know what Ford was thinking. What motor do you have? If I were you, I would just go buy an aftermarket catback system. You'll get rid of that nasty exhaust, plus get some better performance. Win, win?
I got the 4.6. What kind of cash are we talkin on that aftermarket system? Would it be worth it for me? Good Rumsfeld quote. Sorry our "fearless leaders" in Ottawa didnt see fit to support our American brothers. Us B.C. boys were with you guys. Good to see you make such a strong statement in Iraq. I'm embarrassed of our government.

I have a '97 with stock exhaust and it does exit in front of pass front tire. My center cap gets green but the lugnuts aren't rusty. I do use a little antisieze on them though just incase! I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere and not be able to change a flat tire!
There are quite a few options out there when it comes to aftermarket exhaust. When mine rusts out (hopefully soon!) I'm going to put on a cat-back system. 2 I have been looking at are the Gibson exhaust (about $250 if I remember right) or the Flowmaster cat-back system (about $350). The gibson is a single outlet out the back and the Flowmaster is dual out the back. By the looks of my exhaust now I think I still have at least 6 months to a year before I have to decide
Motorhaven.com has some exhaust for sale. Check them out.
There is also an exhaust forum on this site you can look at.
