my 300 has wisps of smoke coming out of the dipstick tube, is my pcv not working properly for this to happen or is it a sign of something more serious???

sounds like blow by. What is the mileage? Smoke out the tail pipe?
You can do a compression test and if the compression drops quick on one cylinder the ring may be a stuck or broke.

first off is the block cold or up to normaly operating temp? If its getting warmmed up then its condensation burning off. if it dose this when it is at normal operating temp then you chould have problems dealing with blowby and slight oil bruning. whats the mileage, and its year(of engine)?

You are on the right track, checking out the PCV system first. Then go looking for more serious things.

it's 95 model, 180k. haven't done compression test, but will try this weekend. has some smoke out tailpipe when first started but goes away, when you gas it some black smoke will come out. it has been sitting up for several months and part of the problem could be bad fuel, in regards to the black smoke. i've changed the oil and filter and put some mystery oil in it. also octane booster and injector cleaner, but still haven't let it run for any extended period of time.
