2006 F350 No start

My buddy has a 2006 F350 with 112,500 on the odo. He said he was driving to work this morning and it started missing/kinda getting low on power. I went to go drive it while he was working and it sat for 2 hours. I got in and it wouldnt start! Its had the STC fitng replaced 20k ago with the Updated fitting and its had the oil/egr cooler/egr valve replaced 15k miles ago. His diesel tech replaced the fuel filters and flushed the coolant 2 days ago as my buddy didnt have time to tackle the job. I pulled some codes off of it after i tryed starting it and its PO278 and P01000. What do you guys think?

P0278 is Cyl 6. An inject? Would an inject cause a no start?

When he had it in the shop 2 days ago, the diesel mechanic said that an inject is starting to go bad. He uses the same diesel mech as i do and the guys very good with 6.0s

One injector won't keep it from starting. I'd start by checking ICP and IPR values.

X2 on HPO values and also maybe the FICM

P1000 is from the batterys being unhooked I would check all battery connections as well I highly doubt the mechanic took the time to unhook batterys for fuel filter change

I thought that the Edge would monitor those ICP and IPR%

I guess if not then all you can do is take a DVM to the ICP sensor you will need a minimum of 0.82 volts to start

The edge can do that? I know it can read IPR values. What should the IPR and ICP values be?

So its IPR, KOEO: 14.84 Low Idle: 24. High idle - 2500 rpm: 40.60. Range: 0-50 per?

ICP, KOEO: 0.2, Low idle: 1.0, High Idle - 2500 RPM: 1.8, Range: 0.15-4.7v.

Sorry they were hard to read lol

Where is the ICP sensor?

And snuggyworm, the FICM is good. Alternator i have no clue what condition its in. But the truck cranks very strong. Just wont turn over

You Got it

the range is where a DTC maybe set if falls out of that spec

ICP in an 06 is in the Passengerside valve cover you can use a DVM and backprobe it you need a minimum of 0.82volts to start

Not sure which gauge Edge reads.

ICPvolts 0.81
ICP PSI 500psi

To start engine.

If I remember right.

Just went out to my truck and checkd. ICP is read by the CTS. Not IPR. Went up to where he works an hr ago after the truck sat all day and still wont start! So doesnt that elminate a a leak in the HPO? Im going back in the morning and gona read the ICP sensor readings.

Do you have a pict of the sensor on the passeng valve cover? If i unplug the ICP will the truck start?

All that might eliminate is a very small leak

He could still have a Blown STC Fitting or a Bad HPO Leak

When you get some readings you should be able to figure what way to go

Also code scan it to and check the FICM and all you can write it down

Maybe if its only a bad ICP sensor
