I've been using my ScanGauge II now for almost a year with decent, or what I thought were decent results. Recently I've found threads that state different codes for ECT and EOT. How do I determine what the proper series of codes should be for my 2006?? I haven't a clue what flash was done last on it, or if that makes any difference what so ever. Does the pre-start delta after a good overnight cold soak give any indication? I've changed the thermostat TWICE figuring I might have had a bum, brand new thermostat, and was successful in bringing it up to 186-190 deg when warmed up with a 7-9 deg delta @ 65mph straight and level. I found what appeared to be a more recent series of codes from somebody with a late '05 Excursion so I tried that creating a new ECT input. Now my ECT runs up quicker and will indicate 190-196 when warm with the ECT running a degree or three warmer than the EOT or dead equal to it. It never showed that with the old code. I let the truck cold soak last night and this morning the EOT and ECT were 8 degrees apart with the ECT indicating warmer than EOT. I thought that was weird. Sorry for the long winded scenario, but if you can direct me to the correct codes I'd really appreciate it. Without that, I can't trust the ScanGauge.
Thanks in advance
Mike.
It seems pretty obvious in reading your post, unless I've missed something...
Prior to changing your ECT code, your ECTs ran 7-9 degrees cooler than your EOTs.
Then, after changing your ECT code, your ECTs run equal to your EOTs, and you've noticed that your ECTs start out 8 degrees above your EOTs after an overnight cold soak.
So I'd guess your original ECT code was correct, and your new ECT code shows ECTs 8 degrees warmer than they should be.
Also, your original 7-8 degree delta (prior to changing your ECT code) is perfectly acceptable. So change your ECT code back to the original code, drive your truck, and smile.
Thanks for the reply's! It's too bad the 'new' codes I input yesterday were not correct. They had a lot going for them.. I thought cool !!, after my EGR cooler and oil cooler was replaced by Ford last year, the delta is now with the new codes, 0...It don't get much better than that. Oh well, I want to be exact with my numbers forfeiting temporary exstasy.
Mike
I had the same question. I had the SGII for about two weeks now and used the EOT off of the Scangauge website. My EOT was about 6-9 degrees higher than the ECT. I was relieved. Then I found two other EOT codes on here and got concerned. I put those into the SGII. With the truck cold, one was showing basically the same as the Scangauge website code. The other code showed about 30 degrees higher. I think that one is wrong. I will check them when the truck is warmed up.
