Reason: More Parts Bought And Items Checked Off
Well I finally got my motor mounts and hardware today, from JBG and planing on installing the gaskets and engine on Wednesday. Waiting for a chance to get a new (used) exhaust manifold from the JY, maybe next week. I had the radiator shop look hot tank my rad and it checked out. So that's a money saver there. I sold an extra transfer case I had out of my 78 f150 for $100, that should take care of my tune parts and a case of beer for an all night wrench feast. So there's the news.
I recieved my exhaust manifold for the truck yesterday. went to the junk yard and they wanted $65 for one and I got it though Napa for $72 at least I didnt have to mess with pulling it. Also got a fuel filter so hopefully I will feel better and get on working on the truck.
I was going to get a used manifold for now, the reason being I was planing on some headers but I think I will keep the manifolds. As far as the hoops steps I am thinking about making a braket for them to attach to instead of the rocker.
Its been awhile since I posted. I finally got a chance to work on the truck and shot some pictures. Just about ready to get motor set in the truck. I got the valve covers resealed, the upper intake gasket installed, drivers side exhaust manifold on, exhaust manifold gaskets (might aswell do both since I had one off) motor mounts on, and front end and timing cover removed and cleaned up. I found the timing chain was a little lose and since I had it apart I ordered up a new one. Now for some pictures:
New Manifold, you can see the new motor mount
Excessive play
All cleaned up
I had to break the bracket because the double nut wouldnt losen up
Have to fix some vaccum lines
Thats all I have for now. I havent got a chance to work on the truck for a week or so. I got the timing chain, and I am looking for a pulley for the crank shaft.
Its been a while since my last up date. But I finally got the motor trany transfer case in the truck. I am about to fire it up for the first time. Its getting exciting. I scored a crankpulley for the 302 out of the junk yard for $10. I am hoping to throw a fuel gallons of fuel in each tank and seeing if we can get it to pop off, or figure out what the fuel issue was that the PO was talking about. Here is a picture for you all:
If all goes well then it will be coming home from the shop to finish putting the rig together. Need to install drive lines, clean it up and then the customizing begins.
