Well I called them this morning... Ended up doing the whole order through bronco graveyard... They looked up the "Name Brand" part number for me, ended up being Yukon's...
Higher ratio better for towing, lower supposedly better on the highway.
I went from 3.73 to 4.30 in my V10 Excursion running 315's and picked up 1-2mpg in town, 2-3 towing my boat and highway mileage stayed around the same.
I went from 5-6 to 7-8 towing, 8-10 to around 10 average and get about 12-13 on the road.
The Excursion is uses almost exclusively for towing and bad weather driving so I don't mind the higher RPMS when I am just using it for a run to town or something. Overall I'm hoping that the lower gears help my MPG too because the truck won't be working as hard to turn those oversized tires!
Are you guys that are running these gynormous tires doing anything to correct the speedo?...if not...the mpg's you are calculating will be way off regardless because the miles traveled per tank will be off due to the inaccurate speedo...a vicious cycle.
Now a re-gear does NOT affect the speedo because of where the speedo pick up sensor is located...but you would need a tuner to reprogram the PCM for tire size change...
Just thinking as I type.

Does this thing work at all?? I'm 4:88 with 42's and I'm 24 off. Confirmed on profesional speedo tester. Sorry if this is off topic TRU-SPEED SENSOR CALIBRATOR, MOD. A

It's not really working harder to turn over big tires but getting close to the stock overall ratio is what's important. The spinning weight is actually just total truck weight and the slightly extra rolling resistance is the only drain on horsepower. You're not really putting out more horses to spin big wheels unless they were spinning free (off the ground) and even that would diminish as the max speed is attained.
My speedo is about 8% percent off so I just use my Scangauge II to correct my speedo as well as track my MPG, trans temp, etc. Works great and you can calibrate the unit for your setup. I used GPS to calibrate my MPH and seems to work very well.

I have one on my truck... I hope it works, IDK, I haven't had it out on the road yet.
Should get a chance to test it next week. Maybe even this weekend.
