Yep. Any aerodynamic smoothing has got to help. I am using the wing below for our big trailer. On average, I get 10 mpg at 70 mph (no wind). Headwinds (about 15 mph) take it down to 8.5 mph. Tailwinds (about 15 mph) take it up to 11.5 mpg, all at 70 mph. Higher speed headwinds dictate slowing down to about 60 - 65 mph and the engine/tranny definitely do not like that--staying in 4th and 3rd gear all the time.

Hey, thanks! I've been considering the 2011 front valance since I first saw them on newer trucks. I know it would help the Excursion, but I did not know (until now) that they could be modified to fit the 2005 bumper.

The only thing I notice is that the transmission heat exchanger has special air scoops in the 2005 front valance. I think I'll cut these into the 2011 valance and glue the ducts behind the holes.

Really? I think it may be an optical illusion. My Ex has a 4" lift and it's fit in every garage I've ever had it in from underground parking complexes to shopping mall multi-story garages.

I've been close, to the point that my antenna bends over to clear some of the I beams but it's fit everywhere I've taken it.

I would get out a measuring tape and measure the height to the tallest part of your truck, usually the luggage racks.

Good luck!

nope, i've hit the sign(when stock mind you) thats held up by chains to warn you your too high. well hit is not the right word...it was laying on my roof.

even my 98 4x4 expedition has scarped the roof racks a few times. white and yellow paint to prove it haha it has 265/75s on it verses 255/70's stock but still....

so i make it a point to not park in those garages, but down town parking is so tight its hard sometimes. they just built a newer garage that i fit into even with the 2" lift so i park there and walk if i have to.

Depends on the area of the country too. In Texas I can fit my Ex with a 8" lift and 37's in most garages. When I was in NY with a Tahoe with a 4" lift and 33's I was SOL most places.

If big trucks are more "normal" where you are then its likely the garages are built with that in mind.

true alaska is truck country but, the issue here is most of the garages are old. thus made for older smaller cars. the newer garages are pretty sweet and i fit with no issues.

I think it is the trend of the area. Older cars were bigger. Newer, more expensive homes are more elaborate all the way around. (Built them for years and I was a realtor).

Okay so Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has their in-house brand of gears for the D50 Reverse Cut for only $115. I have yet to find much info on them though as for who's actually building them for them.

I'm still trying to find a decent deal on some 4.88's for the 10.5 though. Anyone have any leads?
