MBRP exhaust

I'm checking out MBRP's exhaust system and I wanted everyone's input on the 4" versus the 5".

I think I'm stuck going with the 4" since I have to have the cat in there. Anyone have any input otherwise?

Thanks guys.

It all depends on how loud you want it. I have a 4" exhaust on mine and its only loud above 2500 rpm. At lower rpm its still loud from outside the truck but not very noticeable on the inside.

I'm not so much concerned about loudness. I do have to be a little careful because if it's too loud, the police will want to check to make sure I'm legal. I was looking at MBRP's turbo back system for the cat and then get the cat delete test pipe for when I'm not having to get it smogged.

For the 6.0 is the 5" have more benefits than the 4" or is it about the same benefit over the normal stock system? I know either system will be an upgrade, I just am not sure if the 5" is a better choice. Also, I'm not even sure there is a cat delete test pipe for the 5" setup.

If the truck were heavily modded, the 5" might be a better choice, but they will offer equal benefit on an otherwise stock truck.

I have the 4" sans cat, and mine sounds like a jet taking off!

haha, okay, thanks. I really wish I could run without the cat permanently. Maybe when I move out of CA.

The "muffler" on it is pretty much a glorified straight pipe!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the MBRP kit. How complicated is it to detach the turbo downpipe and install the new system. Just trying to prepare ahead of time so I know what to expect.

I have the 4" MBRP "sans edition"

I cut the factory downpipe to get it out, I have heard there is a trick to do it where you don't have to cut it. The only things that are annoying with the mbrp kit is that it does not come with clamps and it only has one hanger welded on to it out by the tail pipe, so you will probably want to weld some more on there. I cut off some of the factory hangers and welded them on the mbrp...

I too had to wrestle the down pipe out of the truck. I installed the whole thing myself in the driveway in about two hours or so. My kit had all of the hangers in place already, no welding involved. The kit also came with all of the clamps too.

I couldn't imagine doing this install myself. There was a lot of times when I needed an extra set of hands but overall it wasn't too bad
