I couldn't imagine doing this install myself. There was a lot of times when I needed an extra set of hands but overall it wasn't too bad
I lack mechanically inclined friends. It was a lot of "back" time and supporting parts with the knees! But, it got done. The lift on the truck made access a ton easier.
Mine only has the Fabtech leveling kit on the front to make it the same height as the back. I actally really like it. You get that feeling of it being lifted, but it's not actually.
I have a friend that can help hold the exhaust while I work it in, but I just wasn't sure if it was as simple as unbolting it from the turbo (above or from below??) unhooking it from the hangars and then putting the new one in.

yes, it is as "simple" as unbolting the parts, but that down pipe will give you fits. Installing the new system to the turbo will be easier with the extra set of hands. Leave all of the parts hand tight for adjustments later.
I went with the 4" MBRP (with muffler) and I am happy with it. Sound is not that noticeable inside the truck. I think the turbo output is 3-3.5", so I'm not sure there would be a big difference in power between the 4" & 5". I would recommend using band clamps like these - JEGS Preformed Stainless Steel Exhaust Band Clamps - JEGS instead of the ones that come with the kit so future disassembly will be easier.
You will probably need adapters welded on to the cat to get the stock size up to 4".
I have the Dual 4" System w/converter re-installed (NC has annual inspection) & love it !!
The install was easy, everything fit perfect (all hangers pre-welded & clamps provided) the only thing that sucked was getting the original down-pipe out w/out cutting it, that was tricky & involved some cuss words..lol
I love the sound, its very aggressive but not too loud (above 2k RPM & she is a lively soundin Devil)....Thanks MBRP
I'm not so much concerned about loudness. I do have to be a little careful because if it's too loud, the police will want to check to make sure I'm legal. I was looking at MBRP's turbo back system for the cat and then get the cat delete test pipe for when I'm not having to get it smogged.
As NWA would say "Man! F*** tha police!!!!!". Lolololololol!!! Sorry impluse. But thats how i feel about these little podunk towns like the one i live in with the police being bored.

Yes i know it needs a bath
Is that a blue chevy i see in that pic on the right?
My only concern is if I have to install the stock cat, how much cutting will be invovled. Is the stock system 3 1/2" or 4"? I am heading towards doing the test pipe and then putting the cat in for smog testing then swapping it back out.

3 1/2"on the stock pipe. Thank god i live in a part of my state that doesnt do the testing. If i did i wouldnt mess with the CAT just cause i wouldnt want to have to get under my truck just for inspection purposes.
I have a magna flow 5" system with a 3.5" down pipe and took out the cat and muffler. it's very easy to put the cat in and out if you need to for emissions. Either way I should of gone with a smaller down pipe as I lost alot of torque.

Very EASY...you make 1 cut 4 inch's or so from each end of the Converter, i used a sawz-all & it literaly took 2 min, the pipes MBRP supplys fit to the Cat perfectly if u order the kit thats designed to re-install the Cat with as i did
