The narrow side trim was an option on the Custom. I own one and have seen several other Customs with this trim.
Cannot find any pics or listing for those wheel covers for the 1979 model year.
So help me here 2WD, leaf spring front axle in late 70's ? how so? axle type? i-beam axle long gone
73-79 F100 and F150 (5 lug) 2wd and F250 (8 lug) 2wd both coil spring and radious arms.
73-79 Super cab (called Extended cab these days) that are 5 lug 1/2 ton F150 4x4 have a leaf spring front suspention with a solid D44 front axle.
There are 73-79 F250 8 lug 4x4 super cabs that are the same leaf front suspention and a D44 or D60 front axle. Yea it blew me away the first time I saw it in a JY. I said 1/2 ton with leafs in the front the front WTH?
I knew chebby did it but not Ford..... so bottom line there are no 73-79 REGULAR CAB F100 F150 5 lug 1/2 ton 4x4 with factory front leaf spring suspention. But I could be wrong, so no flaming me please, just post up what ya know.

How do you figure? don't you own a 73-79 f250 4x4 with leaf springs on both axles? you must mean 4x2 and then you would be correct. I have owned 4x2 trucks and vans that had solid i-beam front axles with leaf springs but they were much older. see, not a flame in sight! LOL

He means there are no Regular Cab F150's (1/2 ton) 4x4's with leaf spring fronts.
First year for the Super-Cab was 1974. Dodge was the first to come out with a extended cab. They came out with the Club Cab in 1973. However, the only options on the Club Cab were a plastic jump seat. The '74-'90s Super-Cabs Ford built at the Kansas city Assembly plant had the bench seat as an option as well as jump seats. The Super Cabs were also 4" bigger than the Club Cab's length wise. All Ford Super-Cab's were built at the Kansas City, MO Assembly plant up until at least the mid 1990's. Assembly Plant K. Don't believe me, run some Super Cab VIN's.
Ok thanks, I was of by 1 year, and we are talking about the front suspention and what is really in a name anyway.........super cab ok but alot of folks can relate to a extended cab term these days.
Do you have some info on the bottom half of these trucks suspention wise as far as there weight rating and is there a "heavy half ton" out there by chance?
Am I even correct that you can get a leaf spring front suspention in a 1/2 ton 5 lug in a super cab only? I know not in a reg cab....with that you get coil spring and radious arms.
I believe you may be correct on the Kansas city plant because my dad bought his truck in western Canada and the VIN has it out of the Kansas City plant. As for the jump seats heres the same truck.
