Well, from what I was told, the truck had a dead pedal...well that was wrong.
I got to the truck this morning, started it and it had a HORRBILE fuel knock. Towed it back to the shop, pulled the fuel filters and I was shocked. This is what I found.
So, I checked F.P. w/ a mechanical gauge and got like 27PSI or so. DEF not enough pressure.
Its on a F-450 rack body, metal tank....So basically what I need to know is....is there any kind of protective liner Ford put inside the tank that could be flaking off and clogging everything up now?
I have about 25GAL of fuel in the tank, which I will have to drain then drop the tank, pull off all the fuel lines blow them out and go from there.
I can't see what else would be causing this? Ill just start from the source and work my way up.
yes they are lined with a grey liner. that tank is just over $1200. I would suggest finding a shop that will reline it.
also I would suggest flushing all the line, 8 new injecotrs, new frame mount pump, filters and a regulator ....

Glad its not my dime!
So that has to be the gray liner flakes im seeing. I have no problem doing the work, the truck is a 2WD which also makes it easier.
So you think it took out all of the injectors with it?
man if you have to make a note on the ticket, remove and clean the frame mount pump and reinstall the tank.
You cant force people to fix stuff the right way if they dont want to.

You're absolutely correct.
Then, when the truck goes down again due to bad/faulty injectors who's the first person to blame...ME...Which I don't like to much.
Anyways, thanks for your help! I will post up more info as I go along.
Okay, well I got the tank off of the truck man, getting it off was EASY even with 30GAL of fuel in it. Literally didn't spill a drop.
Slid the tank out from under the truck, and it was FULL of flakes/rust
Drained all the fuel out of the tank, and I was almost getting spoon fulls of sediment.
Got the tank to the place thats going to line it again, and its a 2.5-3WK wait! oh well.
So I got the fuel lines off and all blown out, the fuel pump off the frame sitting on my bench to finish it up tomorrow. By the looks of the secondary filter that was in it, the flakes really didn't seem to make it up that far, but i KNOW lack of fuel pressure will destroy the injectors, ill keep my fingers crossed for the company that the injectors will be okay.
Anyways, thanks for the help/info.
Ill be working on a 05 GMC Savana for the next few days...
Well, I had the tank lined, and reinstalled it, blew out all the lines, cleaned the fuel pump(main filter housing)
Put 15gal of fresh diesel, new ford filters....
Truck started almost instantly with a few key cycles, it idled for 2 hours hoping it would clear up, I went outside, truck was running GREAT when to take it around the block, and it died almost half way, limped it back....
Cleaned out filters, restarted.....ran good for a few minutes....then same problem died....
If I cycle the key about 5 times....it will run good, then start with the fuel knock and eventually stall out....
I can do the key cycles and it will be fine....then knock...I can do that all day long.
