Hello all,
New member here. I just put on V-Code front springs. I purchased Bilstein front shocks also. I ordered the shocks for a 2000 F350 TD 4X4 dually because the local Ford dealer told me that was an application for the springs. The shocks needed to be a little compressed to fit in at full suspension droop. Now that the spring swap is completed, I noticed the shocks are quite a bit compressed with the full weight of the EX sitting on them.
Is this normal or "ok"?
Should I have just purchased "stock" replacement shocks? I was worried the stock shocks wouldnt allow enough travel for the little bit the EX gets off the road...
I drove the truck out of the garage, and already noticed it steered easier and was better just going through our parking lot.
Most people who just swap the springs put stock excursion springs back on. the F-250 is normally what people step up to if they change them out. I've been told it doesn't really matter, that the stock ones have enough travel, while the F-250 ones are essentially what those springs came with stock. The f-350 ones are probably the same as the F-250 ones. as long as you have more travel in your shock than you do distance from spring to bumpstop you are fine. If you don't, you need to change something.
I looked up shocks for both the excursion and the f250 and the part numbers were the same. I am running excursion shocks with v code springs with no problems.
