I am taking the family to Disney this weekend, my egt guage is not working and I dont think i will have time to fix it before I leave. I was wondering if it would be alright to drive it 700 miles in 80 e . i will not be towing anything and should not have to much stuff with us, my average speed is around 5 miles over speed limit and have a 6637 intajke and mrbp 4 inch exhaust. any thoughts
You'll be fine... unless you're standing on it or trying to smoke a rice burner, you'll never go over 1000*. I've found that the EGT's actually run cooler in 80e while cruising down the highway than stock... typically, I see about 650* at 75mph. Don't sweat it.
You live on the flat (comparitively speaking) and I live near big honkin' mountains. (I drove up a 12% grade last weekend). I have the 60e Mountain tune and the 80e. I have yet to find any scenario (outside of towing) where the 80e can't keep the EGTs down while climbing steep grades at highway speed. The 60eM is better for steep stuff below 50MPH, which you won't run into. 80e owns highway speeds in the mountains and any speed without mountains. 80e does make the liedometer lie even more than normal.
Cruise set to 75 MPH (2200 RPM) on a 6% grade with 10-11 PSI boost (empty) - 800-900 degrees on the Pyro (sensor drilled into the exhaust manifold).
CC at 65 MPH (1800 RPM) on the flat with 4 PSI boost - 500 to 600 degrees on the Pyro.
These numbers are in my configuration (see my sig with links) with no exhaust or turbo leaks.
