I thought I had a link to a good write up with pics on cleaning and servicing the IPR, but none of them work now. I finally found a write up for ya without pics though.

Really if you have another superduty it would only take a few min to switch out IPR's to see if yours is stuck or faulty

The Puredieselpower wrte-up is just fine but all the pics are on the last page.

Here's a PDF I made before that Kim Lux site went away. There are sockets available that can be used wth a ratchet wrench so you don't have to necessarily weld a bar to one.

So heres the.update. I took my ipr out and apart and cleaned it up! Unplugged my bully dog 6 position chip. Now it keeps blowing fuse 24 under the hood. I unplugged the ipr just in case I messed up the wires and it still blows. I'm lost in the sauce now! Does anybody know what might blow "fuse 24" under the.hood

Fuse 24 is for the PCM power relay.

New relay in order, cheap and easy. If you haven't swapped and changed it give it a try. If it doesn't work you'll have a spare. Be sure to check the wiring harness everywhere you can for chafing and bare spots. Over valve cover (drivers side) and firewall big connector and valve cover. Hope we are getting closer !

If that doesn't work a scan tool would be of great help. There ought to be some codes stored that could help.

In this situation he has no power to the PCM. You have to have power to the PCM to use a scantool.

Uh oh.. my bad, you are right. Outside chance the relay could cause this condition if it failed a certain way? After re=reading the post I see he hasn;t had WTS light for years ? Sounding more like a PCM failure to me. It'd be nice if he had one to swap and see.

At this point it's not certain that the relay caused the fuse to blow. Could be a short somewhere. He hasn't been back to let us know what he's done or found.
