Does it have an aluminum panel or is it plain?

Around here, you can usually pick up a pretty nice plain one for $100-$150.

I'm going to have to stop by the local ford dealer.

NPD has them listed as 400 for a repo using OE Ford tooling and 600 for OE ford.

I just bought a new Ford oem tailgate several weeks ago from a not so local Ford dealer (still in the state) for $250. It was the last one that he had, it had been on his shelf for years. He was glad to get rid of it, that's why the price was so cheap. It did not include any hardware. I used everything from my old tailgate except one bushing. I picked that up from another semi-local dealer for $6, free shipping. Here is a link to a thread that NumberDummy just posted some of the available new oem tailgates availability; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...s-missing.html
Good luck.
