Anyone know a good way to polish the brushed aluminum part?

That price is really not that bad, especially when you considier how rare these are to find in that condition. That particular panel was only used for 1985 and 1986 "Lariat" models, and NOBODY reproduces these.

I just checked the online locater, and no Ford dealer has any left over. There can't be many of these left floating around by private individuals in new or NOS condition. Once they are gone, that's it. You will not find one in a junkyard that is in decent shape, because these panels were last used over 30 years ago.

Based on the part number (E5TZ-99425A34-A), it's for 1985/86 only!

1981/84 tailgate finish panel: E1TZ-99425A34-CA

No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has either of these part numbers.

Carpenter has the 1987/91 (E7TZ-99425A34-A) & 1992/96 (F2TZ-99425A34-A) F150/350 tailgate finish panels.

I agree the price isn't out of the realm, just more than I want to spend on that part. The red strip on mine was busted up, so I took that part off and attached an aluminum strip in it's place and put a Ford oval on the right side of it. Works for me and looks good.

A couple of years ago, I found a truck in the junkyard with a perfect tailgate that had that panel on it. The panel was near perfect too. Probably could have gotten it all for $100 or so. Don't remember why I didn't go back for it.
