When I got my truck, it had some regular, rubber wiper blades on it that were in need of replacement.
I purchased the Silicone compound style, because they work very well on my VW beetle. On my bug, they operate silently (meanwhile the rubber ones chattered)
But now that I have these on the truck (same brand) they chatter like mad. Even with a constant pool of water on the windsheild.
They work really well, mind you, but they are noisy.
Do any of you have suggestions for fixing this problem?
I was wondering if it had to do with the angle that they meet the windsheild at.
Also, does an old, pitted windshield tend to have this problem a lot more?
My f150 has a busted windshield (about 4 different places with minor bullseyes)
I have a NEW windshield and it does the same thing. I have some Bosch blades on there too. It is very annoying. I have replaced both wiper arms thinking the springs were bad.
I bought some glass polish at AutoZone and hopefully that will do the trick. I think there is some sort of film on there I can't get off.
Your motor may be getting weak, or your linkage may need lubed / replaced, but have you tried NAPA's Teflon wipers? They fixed the same problem on my girlfriend's Jeep Grand Cherokee. Smoothest wipers I've ever seen, and they wipe really well.
Oops - first and foremost - when was the last time you cleaned the wipers' edges? Many times this helps wipers that did work well, buth then cease to.
Best,

Best,
I just changed these wipers out last week. They are new.
I might try to mess with the linkage and whatnot to see if its the motor making the whole assembly shake.
I have the same blades on my bug, and they are silent. They are Tripleedge Silicone wipers (I think) from WalMart.
Also be sure you don't have any wax on the glass, either hand waxed or carwash. Wax will cause chattering.
I like to thorougly clean the glass and then coat it with RainX. With RainX, I don't need to use the wipers often unless I get road spray. Plus it makes the glass more slippery and the blades don't chatter.
Wipe the blades wipe a paper towel. You might also wet the towel with some alcohol to cut the crud.
