brake pedel does not return fully

1997 ranger 4x4. The front brakes started to get hot on my bros ranger. The pads got so hot it carbonized the anti squeel compound. We bled the whole system, installed new calipers, pads, and all other hardware. He failed to tell me that the brake pedel was not returning properly. Is there some adjustment or is it the master or booster

Master Cylinder

I would suspect the master cylinder especially if the pedal faded with braking but still able to pump up the pressure.

there is a piston return spring in the MC that pushes the pedal back up.......so my vote is MC
