There are several choices here, depending on what you have, what you are doing, what you hope to accomplish.
--your 302--is it a stocker, or a firebreather?
--are you looking to tow and haul? Light or heavy?
--budget? You looking for stuff alongside the road, or have some money to play with?
Here are two links to transmissions. The first is a general list, and your choices are the Ford 4 speed OD, the BW T18, T19, the NP435, the Mazda 5 speed and the ZF 5er:
Domestic Truck Tranny Guide
The second has specific ratio info for the 4 speeds:
The Novak Conversions Transmission Information Gateway
You may have to move around on that site to get the more detailed info.

wow thats awesome thank you for the information.
well shes not a fire breather but she aint stock, cam, headers, carb, intake, soon to have 10:1 heads, this truck is going to be my DD and weekend warrior/work horse.
i want to race around with the truck when i want but be able to use it like a truck when needed.
i have the 9in rear with i think 305 gears (i plan to trade those out asap)
im looking at a t5 from a 1987 Ford T-Bird Cougar 2.3L Turbo and one from a 1992 Ford Mustang 2.3L but but i thought i need one from a 302 like mine. thanks again.

I think you meant 3.50 gears. What do you want to change them to?
A T5 will work, but is not intended for heavier weights and towing. The 4 cylinder models will have very low first gears. A Mustang "World Class" box would be better. Some have a 3.35 first. Info here:
Ford Mustang: Mustang Tech: Transmission and Drivetrain: Borg Warner T5 Transmission data
This outfit has adapters and other info/parts:
Modern Driveline - TREMEC T5 / TKO Transmission Conversion - 5 speed & 6 speed solutions to swap your Ford Mustang, Falcon, Cobra, Hotrod into Overdrive! Performance Parts
I can get you some other links, but gotta go right now.
Remember also, 5th is a bit tall, so if you have a short tire or want to go to 3.89s or something, that will be in your favor.

Unless it was changed, likely it will be only a 3.50 rear ratio(commonly), so it will be 2.38 final drive ratio. If you cruise at 2700 rpm at 70 mph, then you'll drop to 1836 rpm at 70 mph.
As long as you have enough power to pull the truck at 1800 rpm, it will help. If you have hilly terrain, then you'll be shifting back and forth a lot.
