Frames from 73-79

I know the small stuff like cab mounts change between standard and crew cabs etc. But i was wondering if the width of the frames are different, also if a 2wd frame is set up the same as a 4wd, minus the suspension components. I plan to either swap a 2wd frame(1977) to 4wd or a 4wd frame to crew cab(1979)

Any info will help.

Thanks, Mike

the crossmember udner the oil pan i believe is different. as far as frame width, that can get complicated. 100&150 is the same. 250 depending on the year is different. the 73-79 with a divoced X-case get narrower behind the cab. the rear cab mount crossmember is different from the 1/2 ton to 3/4 to1 ton frames. if you have 2 frames in mind of swapping and you have doubts measure the 2 and compare. and pay attention to things like hoe the steering and driveshafts are, as they too are different from standard cab to extended cab configurations. i hope this helps.

From the firewall forward 4WD frames are different than 2WD.
F250 4WD from '73 through mid '77 are narrower than the 2WD. After mid '77 the frames are the same width.

Thanks for the help, I have a 79 standard cab thats 4x4, and im getting a 77 2wd crew cab rolling chassis. I'm not sure which would be easier, a cab swap or the drive train swap.
