I own a 2005 Ford Excursion with a 6.0 Powerstroke engine. When comparing my truck with a 2004 F250, I see that my exhaust has an extra "muffler" in the exhaust pipe.
Three questions:
1.- What is that extra muffler, is that a DPF?
2.- Can I remove it and place a straight pipe from Banks or Magnaflow?
3.- If I can remove it, what is the process, kit, or steps to be followed to accomplish that.
BTW, I bought the truck new in California, but I now live in Texas.

Thanks in advance.
No it is not a Dpf those only started on the 6.4 it is a resonator which alters the sound and quiet it down a bit. Nothing special is needed to remove it. You can buy an exhaust that comes pre made and has no resonator (or muffler and catylitic converter if you so choose)all you need to remove it is to cut it out and re connect the exhaust
Ok, so the muffler is actually a catalityc converter. Does the truck have any O2 sensors after the Cat conv that could result in an engine light check going off if the Cat is deleted?
Thanks for the responses.
No, i ran my mbpr exhaust with the kitty at first, then deleted it when my modding madness kicked in No codes without, lower egt's & louder when accelerating
