i got a 78 ford f250 long bed single cab. 4wd dana 60 rear and 44 front (i believe) 4 speed manual 351m with a married t case. I broke a rear driveshaft dead center... dont really know how to go about fixing it. I have cut both the old ends of the driveshaft and was thinking about just welding them into another pipe. But thats a last resort. would like to buy a used one or new. or something. Any advice is much appriciated.
I would see about finding a local shop that builds driveshafts. You don't want to just weld the ends to some pipe, it has to be balanced otherwise you are going to have bad vibrations. Your only other choice is to find another similar truck and get the driveshaft.
Applications: 1977/78 F250 4WD Regular Cab 8' bed (133" wheelbase) / 300 I-6, 351M/400 / Dana 60 rear axle / New Process 435 or Warner T-18 4 speed M/T.

I had to get a new one for my '78 F100 SWB...cost me around $300. Took the guy less than an hour and I was out the door. You'll need both the sleeve (front) and the rear yoke, as well as precise measurements from the tail shaft to the center of the rear yoke...if you have the old on, it wouldn't hurt to take it with you to the shop...
The other option (as mentioned above) is to try to find another truck with a good drive shaft...I searched junk yards for a week plus, and found plenty, but majority of them were bent from where the trucks were picked up with the fork lift for placement in the yards...
