Hey guys,I posted a while back about seeing whiteish smoke towing our TT.It turns out my turbo needs some TLC,I finally got around to checking it this week(been busy at work, haven't had a lot of time),and there was oil in the downpipe,I haven't checked for play yet,it has more of a whine but not any scrubbing/screaching sound, Ok,I plan on a turbo rebuild kit from RiffRaff,I'm ordering a set of stage 1 singles,as my injectors has 212xxx miles on them and smokes pretty good on start up and horrible fuel mileage, both HPOP lines, gonna check the passenger side fuel line and probably wrap it with a good hose so it don't rub through.I'm wanting to do all the preventative stuff I can while I have it down that far.I definitely need to replace the drain valve on the fuel bowl as when I turn it to drain...nothing happens.I replaced the glow plugs about three years ago with Motorcraft, they should be OK right?..,I'm also thinking about ordering the "Mechanics parts cabinet" from Riffraff and was wondering if everything I need for the fuel bowl rebuild and HPOP service is included,I'm open for suggestions as far as anything else I should do...Sorry for such a long post...Thanks..Phil
I was thinking the same thing Richard, but if I find that I need it,it'll have to come a little later, after this the stack of frog skins will be a little shorter lol,I don't have an AE yet so I hope to hook up with someone that does after I run it for a while so I can do some logging and see what pressures it'll hold,I know the singles will use a little less oil so I'll see..
The mechanics combo kit doesn't come with the non-serviceable plug for the HPOP so you might want to add that to your list. Yours may not be leaking, but then again it might be pretty loose. Mine wasn't much more than finger tight so I was glad that I had the plug when I finally pulled my HPOP for the first time at 285k miles.
Also does not come with new Fuel Pressure Regulator parts....that is also a separate kit.
If you use your EBPV, then you might need the rebuild kit for the actuator (if it's leaking).
